What Stage 1 Means
A Stage 1 remap is written for a vehicle on standard hardware. It should work within sensible limits for the factory turbo, injectors, clutch, gearbox and cooling system.
When It Is Safe
Stage 1 tuning is usually safe when the vehicle is healthy, the calibration is conservative, and diagnostic checks are completed before and after the remap.
- No active engine or transmission faults
- Boost, fuel and temperature data look normal
- The clutch or gearbox can handle the added torque
- The tune is matched to the exact engine and ECU
When To Avoid It
Do not remap a car with unresolved DPF faults, boost leaks, misfires, overheating, poor servicing history or a slipping clutch. Fix the fault first, then tune.
